About Franka Maria Andoh

I have never called myself a writer.  I would rather describe myself as an emerging writer.  It makes me feel less pressured and with room for growth and improvement.  But by God’s grace I have been able to put a few books under my belt.  My children’s books – ‘Dokono the Donkey’, ‘Koku the Cockerel’, and the ‘Yum Yum Bully Boy’.  My collection of short stories, ‘I Have Time and Other Short Stories’ won the Ama Ata Aidoo Award in 2018.  In 2018, my commissioned children’s book ‘The Kente Curtain’ was launched.   In the pipeline are two more children’s stories ‘Dear Kweku’ and ‘Kumasi to London’ as well as my first ever cookbook – ‘Kelewele’.

I am a serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Josie’s Cuppa Cappuccino, a café listed as one of the leading cafes in Africa by Ventures Africa. I have been in this business for twenty-one years and I am   still despite the challenges, very passionate about it.  Alongside running my café, I am the co-founder of an Art Space called Antique Lemonade and the CEO of Lemon tree Publishing and Film.  I have also ventured into film and my first short film Secret Number premiered in 2019.  I am extremely passionate about stories and the documentation of family history.

I am all for empowering women and committed to causes involving street children.   I am actively involved in the Christ the King Soup Kitchen which feeds an average of 50 beneficiaries every single day.
